Strands of Genius: Art & Design Movies, Distant Territories of Human Imagination, Useful Thinking Tools

Guest curated by Ashur He

This year we’re aiming to highlight 50 creative thinkers that have inspired us, by giving them the opportunity to guest curate this newsletter, Strands of Genius. Rosie, Faris, Ashley, and Ashur have been working together on revamping the design for The School of Stolen Genius.

:: A BIT MORE ABOUT GUEST CURATOR, ASHUR HE (ANQUI HE) ::

LOCATION: China
PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT: Freelance

I am a strategic visual communicator living in China. Currently, I work as a freelance visual designer and study at RMIT University in Melbourne.

My career is just at the beginning. I have been exploring my career for seven years, from studying at the university, worked for two years in a fashion company and a design company, and graduated from the marketing management program at Seneca College in Canada. I want to explore my career in the advertising industry because it is a place that combines strategy and creativity, also it is changing now and becoming more diverse.

I am doing some projects, and writing articles to help me improve my strategy and creative skills during these months.

The first time I met Rosie and Faris was in a WARC webinar they hosted. I enjoy learning from them because their presentation is unique and creative. It is an honor to collaborate with my teachers to create something new and meaningful.

Editor’s Note (Genius Steals Team): You may remember a while back we had a call out for designers. We connected with Ashur and loved her enthusiasm and the way she thinks about design as a communications tool. We can’t wait to share with you some of what she’s been working on in the weeks to follow!

It's called Genius Steals because we believe ideas are new combinations and that nothing can come from nothingBut copying is lazy. We believe the best way to innovate is to look at the best of that which came before and combine those elements into new solutions.

Co-Founders Faris & Rosie are award-winning strategists and creative directors, writers, consultants and public speakers who have been living on the road/runway since March 2013, working with companies all over the world. Our Director of Operations is nomadic like us, our accounting team is based out of Washington, our company is registered in Tennessee, and our collaborators are all over the world. Being nomadic allows us to go wherever clients need us to be, and to be inspired by the world in between.

Hit reply and let’s talk about how we might be able to work together :)
