:: A BIT MORE ABOUT GUEST CURATOR, ELIZABETH KIM ::
LOCATION: Brooklyn, New York, USA
PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT: Art Director @ M Booth & Board Member @ Asians in Advertising
My name is Elizabeth Kim and I am on the board of Asians in Advertising with Bernice Chao. I'm currently an Art Director at M Booth where I specialize in data-driven 360 campaigns, brand work and digital activations.
Growing up my parents, despite being immigrants who did not know English when they moved to NYC, prioritized helping the AAPI community. My dad was the Founder and Chairman of Koreantown Prosperity Association where he protected the rights and interest of Korean businesses in the NYC-greater area and was the Vice Chairman of National Unification Advisory Council in the NY chapter, an international organization seeking to unify South Koreans globally. And my mom revolutionized the senior care industry in the AAPI community and was recognized in many medical journals including the Journal by Medical Doctors in Korea. She was also recognized by President Obama and received the Volunteer Service Award for her work with Shepherd's Choir of NJ.
My parents dedication to give back has always been a constant inspiration to me. And at a young age I always volunteered my time to help and support members of the AAPI community. In my free time, I help first generation AAPI small business owners establish an online presence and digital marketing. In more recent years, during the peak of the pandemic and the rise of xenophobia, I searched for a more active way to help AAPI members in the industry I am in. This is when I discovered Asians in Advertising. Through AIA we have been able to support, connect, and elevate AAPI members and their careers across the globe. AIA is putting together its first ever summit "Breaking Barriers" that will bring together 40+ speakers including Cindy Gallop and co-founders of Stop AAPi Hate, Cynthia Choi and Manjusha P. Kulkarni. We have also partnered with other organizations such as Asian Creative Foundation and Asian Hustle Network to really amplify the need to help the AAPI community across the world.
Editor’s Note (Team Genius Steals): We were connected with Elizabeth through Bernice Chao. And we are loving what she’s doing with Asians in Advertising. We’re so excited for her and the upcoming summit. Thanks for the wonderful links, Elizabeth!

It's called Genius Steals because we believe ideas are new combinations and that nothing can come from nothing. But copying is lazy. We believe the best way to innovate is to look at the best of that which came before and combine those elements into new solutions.
Co-Founders Faris & Rosie are award-winning strategists and creative directors, writers, consultants and public speakers who have been living on the road/runway since March 2013, working with companies all over the world. Our Director of Operations is nomadic like us, our accounting team is based out of Washington, our company is registered in Tennessee, and our collaborators are all over the world. Being nomadic allows us to go wherever clients need us to be, and to be inspired by the world in between.
