:: WHAT’S NEW & WEEKLY GRATITUDE ::
Hi! Halloween is over and the long, slow slide towards the end of the year has begun!
We had a great time in the UK catching up with people, never enough time, but now we are *pretty much* locked in for a gig in March so will be back for a spell then. We are grateful that this year has been much kinder than last, and excited for the next one.
In the meantime, I would like to draw your attention to something that is also quite exciting - Paid Attention 2.0 is published in the UK tomorrow!
What we would be especially grateful for is a tweet or share to help promote the book. (Faris hates to ask but Rosie is trying to help him with asking in general)
You can simply share this newsletter (that would be awesome!) by clicking the button below. So easy, so helpful, so kind, so appreciated. Thank you.
Alternatively, you could share this (or something like it) on your socials:

Hello!
Faris here!
How are you?
May I have your attention, please?
The newly updated second edition of my book Paid Attention is being published tomorrow in the UK!
(It’s November 3rd in UK and November 30th in USA because those are the release days for the respective distributors.)
This new edition includes two new chapters covering the recent developments in the thinking, creative practice and measurement of attention and advertising and is updated throughout.
Plus there is a cool new cover and I got some lovely reviews for the new edition:
“Paid Attention is the most stimulating and useful blueprint for genuinely fresh thinking about advertising and communications that I have read in the last ten years."- Adam Morgan, author of Eating The Big Fish
“In a world where the rate of technological change is ever-faster, this new edition is a must for any ambitious marketer, strategist or creative.” Laura Jordan Bambach, Chief Creative Officer, Grey London
“A must-read for anyone in the communications industry.” Lisa Batty, Head of Brand Strategy and Planning, TikTok
“The most useful, entertaining and insightful examination of communication theory and commercial creativity that I have read.” Catherine Coleman-Jinks, Head of Marketing Excellence, Twinings
If you are an academic you can request an inspection copy from the publisher here and if you haven’t read it I hope you will consider it.
Thanks for your support! We really appreciate it. Means a lot.
On Friday November 12th, at 12p ET, Faris will be hosting a Zoom video update to share more around the new updates and new thinking!
Email Ashley@GeniusSteals.co with your order or pre-order receipt (or letting her know you’re a member of the School of Stolen Genius) and we’ll send you an invite for free.

WHAT IS PAID ATTENTION ALL ABOUT, YOU ASK?
The advertising attention marketplace is a confusing and vast playing field where the rules have changed drastically over the last decade. Make yourself heard and win the attention of your target audience with the new edition of this ultimate guide.
Paid Attention delivers new and innovative insights into advertising ideas: what they are, why they are evolving and how to use them in day to day strategy to ensure commercial stability within a changing digital landscape. Packed with real-world examples of advertising campaigns from brands such as Google, Sony, Burger King and Old Spice, it provides a robust model for influencing human behavior and toolkits that offer best practice on brand behavior and effective communication.
This second edition includes two new chapters exploring the latest evidence about attention spans and trends in online advertising, as well as new case studies on compelling brand ideas. In a world where being a consumer is confusing, learn to take control of the situation and make yourself heard in today's crowded attention marketplace.
Buy (or pre-order it if in the USA) it from the publisher or via Amazon.
“Everyone needs attention, like we need to eat.
This is not controversial, nor is it hard to understand. But the idea must be slippery, because it will not stick.
If we could keep in mind that people need attention, it would change the way we see almost everything they do, from art to crime, from romance to terrorism. And we must.” (The Guardian)
Everyone needs attention and I’m truly grateful that you have given me yours.

It's called Genius Steals because we believe ideas are new combinations and that nothing can come from nothing. But copying is lazy. We believe the best way to innovate is to look at the best of that which came before and combine those elements into new solutions.
Co-Founders Faris & Rosie are award-winning strategists and creative directors, writers, consultants and public speakers who have been living on the road/runway since March 2013, working with companies all over the world.
