FAVORITE GAME
Mass Effect Trilogy. It's an oldie but a goodie. They don't tell stories in RPG games like they did in Mass Effect anymore.

BEST VACATION DESTINATION
Penang, Malaysia is this eclectic mix of hip culture, history, art, and of course food. I love it so much that it's my goal to retire there. If you've watched Crazy Rich Asians, parts of it were filmed there, most notably the mahjong scene.
CURRENTLY READING
I read Blinks everyday so does that count? Today's blink of the day is "For the Record" by David Cameron . The summary says that it's an honest account from a prime minister who truly altered his country's course.
MOST LOVED PODCAST
The BJJ Psychologist by Dr Yasi Pujols. Fascinating podcast geared towards the intersect of psychology and the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu competition life.

(BRIEF BITS OF INBOX INSPIRATION BROUGHT TO YOU BY)
Henlo! My name is Su Ling. I'm the Head of Strategy at Ensemble Worldwide, a boutique agency under the IPG Mediabrands group located in sunny tropical Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Malaysia's not very well known but you may have heard of us as that country sandwiched in between Singapore and Thailand. Or you may know our people too - Michelle Yeoh and Henry Golding from Crazy Rich Asians (fun fact some parts of CRA were filmed in Malaysia).
I'm super excited to curate this edition of Strands of Genius because I love this newsletter and I’m a firm believer of giving back, so thank you Rosie & Faris. Anyway, South East Asia is a crazy fast paced, dynamic market where eateries stay open 24 hours, shopping malls close at 11pm, and everyone is pretty much mobile first. Yet at the same time, it's slow paced in a lot of ways such as how cash is still king, tea times are precious, and traffic might set you back by an hour or two. It's this interesting dichotomy that leads to the emergence of trends such as social commerce, e-wallets, as well as everyone's favorite - micro mobile videos. I hope you enjoy learning a thing or two from things happening in my region. If you have questions, comments, or need some cultural context, feel free to ask me on LinkedIn at: https://www.linkedin.com/in/sulingchn/

Preparing for Social Commerce’s Influence: Lessons from Southeast Asia
#Mobile #SocialCommerce #SoutheastAsia #SocialMedia
Social commerce is the act of selling goods entirely via social media and messaging platforms. Sellers set up ‘shops’ (usually accounts or pages) on Facebook or Instagram and post images and details of goods for sale. Buyers then contact the Sellers usually via popular chat apps such as WhatsApp or LINE and transfer money typically through bank transfer. Because the sale happens within the chat environment, Sellers have the ability to build one on one relationship with Buyers to up-sell or increase loyalty. As marketers, there are definitely lessons to be learnt from how these Sellers market their products and build customer relationships entirely on social. ::WARC::
The Battle for E-Wallet Supremacy in Southeast Asia
#Mobile #EWallet #FinTech #Ecosystem #SoutheastAsia
A fierce battle is raging to dominate e-Wallets in Southeast Asia – a market of 600 million consumers who are increasingly using mobile Internet and becoming comfortable with digital financial services. In recent years, e-Wallets have been launched in the region by telecommunications providers, banks, merchants, device manufacturers, transportation providers, remittance players, and consumer tech firms. Now, they are competing aggressively to be adopted by both consumers and merchants. While e-Wallets still account for a small proportion of non-cash payments today, they are forecast to grow rapidly. Mobile payments in the ASEAN region are expected to reach $30 Billion by 20212, and e-Wallets will capture a significant part. The article examines the different types of e-wallet business models and examines strategies to acquire new users in South East Asia. ::BRINK::
The TikTok Strategy: Using AI Platforms to Take Over the World
#AI #TikTok #SocialMedia
TikTok is extremely popular in South East Asia with the region accounting to 38% of it's global user base. Many articles have covered the reasons why consumers are so addicted to TikTok and how brands use the platform so I thought I'd share this article that covers how AI has developed and shaped the platform instead. ::KNOWLEDGE::
Why Should Non-Athletes Care About Sports Psychology?
#SportsPsychology #MentalStrength #MentalTraining
I compete pretty regularly in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitions. I travel around the world to compete and have even competed in the World Championships in Los Angeles and Las Vegas. In order to get over my nerves in competition, I actually started exploring the concept of mental training to improve my mental strength for sports but have noticed a positive impact at work and in life as well. ::EXPLORING YOUR MIND::
